Happy New Year 2020

So it began, the 2020s, a new decade. I am planning a lot this year, and in this post I want to outline a few of these goals and milestones.

2o20 is the year I want to kick start growth of neuralfinity and enable progress for artificial intelligence in real world applications. I will continue my studies and also look with a lot of interest towards the UK-EU relations and how brexit will effect the UK on the ground.

neuralfinity will, next to my studies, be my core focus. For those who don't know: neuralfinity is a private sector lab for applied artificial intelligence research that I co-founded in 2019. Every projects aims to answer a relevant hypothesis, release useful code, solve a challenge for project partners and, ideally, create a spin-out to commercialise the open source code and solve similar probelms for many customers with a low barrier of entry. Since our public launch in London on 30/10/2019 we already started on six projects and hope to publish at least two papers during 2020 and release the sources of at least one project until the end of the year.

I will take my photography more serious again, with already two shoots booked this January and possibly more to follow. I won't persue it as a full-time job, but it always brings joy and my goal is to at least cover the cost of my CaptureOne subscription through photo work for this year. I am also evaluating a switch from my current Sony A7 back to Nikon with either the rumoured Nikon D780 (the successor to my beloved D750) or a Nikon Z6 and will rent and test a few cameras in the process. Watch out for the photos and experiences.

In cycling I still find one of my biggest passions and 2020 will be a big year. Any time I will be able to spare from my studies or work, I will try to spend on one of my bicycles. It is one of the largest sources of energy for me to get out, smell nature and feel the wind rushing across my body whilst my own strength propells myself along a pretty road.

I hope everyone will have a great 2020 and you will succeed in your endevours and together work on making 2021 better than 2019.
